YouTube Week's Newsflash Expiring posts & more

 YouTube Week's Newsflash

Let's get into this week's updates

- Expiring Posts

YouTube running a few experiments for creators using Android that gives creators the option of making their posts expire after 24 or 72 hours.

Now as a reminder, today, posts do not expire

They exist as evergreen content in a creator's community tab but YouTube heard from creators that they would like the ability to share content that is only available for a short period of time

For Example: a special time-limited discount on merch or a special message for fans that manage to catch it before it expires. Viewers will see expires in X hours at the top of the post in the community tab, and creators will see their expired posts in the community tab under the archived chip once it has expired. Creators can't re-share expired posts, but youtube planning on adding that functionality in the future.

- Gifting Memberships

YouTube are excited to announce that starting today, all eligible monetizing creators will have access to membership gifting.

With this feature, you & your existing channels members will be able to purchase gift memberships for other viewers who are not yet members. Viewers who receive gift membership do not pay any charges. And as a creator, you receive your usual revenue share from each transaction. For more details follow the same topic in this Tweet

- Posts Images

YouTube making it easier for creators to add images to posts by improving the design of the creation flow.

Availability: This will be available on june Android by the end of June & on iOS by the end of July

- Ablity to pick custom thumbnails for VODs

YouTube added the ability to pick custom thumbnails for Video on Demands (VODs) within the upload flow on the main app mobile for iOS. Before then, this capability was only available on studio mobile. To pick a custom thumbnail is now available on Android, too.
